The Arts Issue

...even got a little two page spread about my unofficial role as “Guelph’s Poster Boy” and my days in high school where I cut my teeth in the comics world by submitting strips to the Ontarion… way back in 2004.

you can read it for yourself and check out a few of said comics right HERE

Thanks to Will Wellington for the chat!

Ticket To The Show

About a year or so ago Jenny Mitchell asked me if I’d be interested and available to drop some beats on the upcoming Bird City album that she was in the process of wrapping up. I said “yes” and after some scheduling and rescheduling, the beats were dropped.

I played on two tracks - One track that I was told would for sure be on the album (and then wasn’t) where I played the drum kit using just my hands instead of sticks.

And another track that I was told might not make the album (and then did). It was called “Ticket To The Show.”

Well the album is out now and it was a trip hearing the final results. Hear it for yourself

you can hear the rest of Bird City’s album Winnowing (climbing high on the Canadian college radio charts) over at the Bandcamp

Here's my poster for the ZZZWKND music festival (aka SnoozzzeFest?) in Brantford.

I'm tickled to have been asked to be 1 of the 10 artists to create a unique poster for the event. All posters are being framed and auctioned off at the festival tomorrow (Sept 23rd), with all the money raised going straight to the BRANTFORD SEXUAL ASSAULT CENTRE!!

So come to the fest, open your wallets for a good cause, walk away with some art, and oh yah -- theres MUSIC!!

Did I mention the festival is pay what you can? you can't afford not to miss it.

Dandelion Cafe

Hey Elora folks! There's a new Cafe in town

Wreckless Eric's (in Fergus) has opened up a sister shop in Elora -- and her name is Dandelion! I was asked to design her likeness. She had to be a turtle and she had to have a more down-to-earth and "hippie" vibe, unlike her brother's more wreckless "sunglasses at night" ways.

this is what I came up with

Post-Kazoo post

I didn't know what else to do with this picture, so here's my post-kazoo fest poster post...

big poster.jpg

...I'm not gonna lie, it was pretty surreal to see the final evolution of my once sketchbook doodle, now printed out as a two storey high poster. Even if this picture isn't the best, that feeling will never get old and I cherish this reminder.

And here's a bonus pic of me picking my butt at my (and my wife Rachel's) Print Expo table

In case you were curious - butt picking does wonders for tote bag sales.

less than 12 hours before we had to be at the Print Expo, my band Badminton Racquet took to the stage at The eBar to play a set of wonky instrumental noise rock. Sharing the stage with us that night was none other than Toronto's Eyeballs, Montreal's LAPS and Halifax's Century Egg.

Here's a little preview of what our set sounded like that night

Thanks again to everyone at Kazoo!
To all the Crew, the volunteers, the attendees, the bands, the print artists, the dancers, the local folks, the folks who traveled from out of town, the venues, the sponsors, the beer slingers, the sound engineers, the pancake makers and the dishwashers... pat yourselves on the back. You did it!

see you next year

Print Expo 2017

These will be available today (April 8th) at the Kazoo! Print Expo...

"QUIET SKIING TOWN" is a zine collecting a slew of collaborative illustrations. Created between myself and Nick Counter over the past 5+ years, all of which were created while intoxicated. Pick one up for a mere 400 cents -- "WOW!"
